Priv.-Doz. Dr. Angelika Klein-Theyer, MBA

Senior Physician at the Department of Ophthalmology, Medical University of Graz

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Angelika Klein-Theyer, MBA, is a senior physician (Oberärztin) at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of Graz. She leads the section for oculoplastic, orbital, and lacrimal surgery. Dr. Klein-Theyer completed her medical studies at Karl Franzens University Graz from 1987 to 1994 and earned her doctorate in 1994. She has undergone extensive specialist surgical training, including fellowships in Amsterdam and London. In January 2017, she achieved her habilitation with a focus on the interface of eyelid surgery and the ocular surface. Additionally, she has served as a member of the Oculoplastic Commission of the Austrian Ophthalmologic Society and is a chair member of the Austrian Federation for Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Surgery (AFIAS).

Dietmar Ulrich is an internationally recognized plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon who will assume leadership of the University Clinic for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck on November 1, 2025.

He has served since 2012 as University Professor and Director of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Before that, he held senior academic and clinical roles including Deputy Clinic Director at RWTH Aachen University and a leading position at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Ulrich completed his specialist training in Aachen with additional stages in Switzerland and the United States, including at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

In Innsbruck, he aims to further strengthen the clinic’s tradition in plastic surgery through innovation and interdisciplinary development. His clinical and research interests include advanced reconstructive techniques and future-oriented fields such as machine perfusion, augmented reality, and lymphatic/lymphedema surgery.

Ass. Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Barbara Del Frari is a highly respected specialist in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Since 2003, she has been a key part of the university’s clinic for plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery, serving as a senior physician for over five years.

In 2013, Dr. Del Frari achieved habilitation with her work on innovations in surgical techniques for correcting congenital thoracic wall deformities. She has also received international recognition, including the prestigious EURAPS/AAPS Fellowship in 2010, which allowed her to collaborate with leading institutions such as the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Del Frari has contributed significantly to advancing surgical methods and has been honored by the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. Her expertise also extends to academic discussions on gender-specific aspects in plastic surgery, addressing surgical approaches for different genders and gender-affirming procedures.

Dr. Del Frari’s clinical, research, and academic achievements establish her as a leading figure in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

With a distinguished academic and clinical background, Dr. Schmidinger has achieved habilitation, demonstrating his expertise in both teaching and research at a university level.

Since 2019, Dr Steger has worked as an associate professor at the Medical University of Innsbruck while also contributing his skills to the Department of Ophthalmology at Brixsana. 

Dr Steger specialises in a wide range of ophthalmic surgeries, with particular expertise in cataract surgery and the surgical management of conditions affecting the cornea, eyelids and ocular surface.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andreas Kuchar is a specialist in ophthalmology and optometry, with expertise in cataract surgery, refractive correction, eyelid surgery, and lacrimal surgery.
