Built around the operating table

The Setting

University medicine, up close

Train inside the Medical University of Innsbruck, side by side with faculty from ophthalmology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and clinical anatomy.

The Format

Two surgeons per station

Small teams, direct faculty feedback, and protected time at your own station to repeat every technique until it sits.

The Method

Real tissue behaviour

Specially preserved human specimens with lifelike tissue properties, alongside advanced 3D-printed simulation models, in a practice-oriented setting for ophthalmic surgeons at every stage.

Beyond the station

Train before, during and after the course

The M.A.R.K.O Lid you operate on at LidSUMMIT has a digital twin. Prepare at home in 3D, then see the anatomy laid over the real model in the headset.

Interactive 3D eyelid model with orbicularis, fat pads, vessels and nervesFree · in your browser

The eyelid in 3D, six procedures step by step

Explore the lid layer by layer, cut a section through it and follow upper blepharoplasty, ptosis, ectropion, entropion, frontalis sling and brow lift with the decision, landmark and pitfall of every step. Then test yourself in the quiz.

Mixed reality at the station

We are building a VR and AR training app for the PICO headset: the 3D anatomy is calibrated onto the real M.A.R.K.O Lid in front of you, so you see the septum, fat pads and levator exactly where you are about to cut, and walk through each procedure in the headset.

Tested with participants at Tirol 2026. The feedback was so strong that headset training becomes a fixed part of the programme in March 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need
to know

LidSUMMIT is designed for ophthalmologists, oculoplastic surgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, fellows, and advanced residents with a focus on eyelid, periocular, and corneal surgical training. Participants are selected to ensure a high-quality learning environment - the course is limited to a maximum of 40 surgeons per edition.
The course fee covers full access to all hands-on surgical stations, training materials (human specimens and 3D-printed models), faculty lectures and demonstrations, course documentation, and the EACCME® CME certificate. Accommodation and travel are not included and must be arranged independently.
Full Access (€3,590) covers all three days: Day 1 Corneal Sutures & Traumatic Wound Closure, Day 2 Blepharoplasty & Ptosis Correction, and Day 3 Entropion, Ectropion, Reconstruction & Local Flaps.

Eyelid Focus (€2,790) covers Days 2 and 3 only, with a focus on oculoplastic surgery, blepharoplasty, ptosis, malposition repair, and eyelid reconstruction - ideal for surgeons whose primary interest is eyelid surgery rather than corneal techniques.
Yes. LidSUMMIT Tirol 2026 is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) and has been granted 24 European CME credits (ECMEC®), 8 per course day. The CME provider is the Medical University of Innsbruck, Institute of Clinical and Functional Anatomy. You can verify the accreditation in the official EACCME® database (Course No. 33964).

Through the agreement between the UEMS and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert ECMEC® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Each participant should claim only the credits corresponding to the hours actually spent in the educational activity - Eyelid Focus participants (Days 2-3) should therefore claim 16 credits.
The course is conducted entirely in English. All lectures, demonstrations, faculty feedback sessions, and course materials are in English, making LidSUMMIT accessible to international participants.
LidSUMMIT is deliberately kept small: maximum 40 participants per edition, working across 20 surgical stations with two surgeons per station. This ensures direct access to faculty at every station, personalised feedback, and a productive peer learning environment. Previous editions sold out. Early registration is strongly recommended.
The course takes place at the Institute of Clinical and Functional Anatomy, Medical University of Innsbruck, Müllerstrasse 59, A-6020 Innsbruck, Austria. The institute is part of the Innsbruck University Hospital campus, ranked among the world's top 60 hospitals. Innsbruck is easily reachable by direct flights from most European cities and by rail.
Accommodation is not included in the course fee and must be arranged independently. Innsbruck offers a wide range of hotels at different price points, several within walking distance of the venue. Registered participants will receive accommodation recommendations in the Participant Hub.
Registration is open and available online. Select your preferred ticket, Full Access or Eyelid Focus, and complete the checkout. Payment is processed securely via Stripe. After registration you will receive a confirmation email and access to the Participant Hub with all course details, logistics, and preparation materials.
